What it is A major update to the Office 2003 suite of tools (including peripheral tools such as Visio) has been released. The new version inhances the junk email filter to filter emails that have many of the common "phishing" techniques (such as showing one website but linking to another) into the junk mail bin. It includes SP1 and all the security releases since that release, as well as a huge number of updates to bugs and problems in various applications in the update suite. There are more than 460 separate security and bug fixes in the SP2 release. What to do If you are already using update.microsoft.com you should either automatically get the update (in which case you may have a yellow shield in your system tray that you can double click to begin the install), or you can download it by going to http://update.microsoft.com. Depending on what office programs you have installed you may get more than one update. Outlook will also download a new copy of the junk mail filter, which is required to use the new "phishing" detection. If you chose to delete your installation files when you installed office you may need to have your installation disks handy when you install the update. If you don't use http://update.microsoft.com you can also update using office update at: http://officeupdate.microsoft.com We stongly advise you apply this update. Note that if you use a 3rd party program that interacts with your calendar in outlook, there are some programming changes that may require an update to the interaction portion to properly function. Microsoft slightly changed the way that accept/deny appointments are handled which may adversely affect some 3rd party interface software..
