What it is Two new patches (and the usual malicious software removal tool) were released on the first Patch Tuesday of 2006. The first patch fixes a problem with Outlook 2003 that contains a vulnerability that might make a specially crafted email allow your system to be compromised. This fix should be applied (and will show up) if you have Office 2003 installed on your system. A second security update applies to users of Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows 2000 and affects both email and internet explorer. The vulnerability is in the way both IE and any product that uses IE (such as outlook) processes web fonts. A properly crafted font file could allow a user of either IE or Outlook to visit a webiste or read an email that infects and takes over their system. What to do Either accept the automatic update, or visit http://update.microsoft.com to download and apply these updates.
