What is it McAfee experienced problems with a recent virus signature release. McAfee's version 4715 virus signature files (released late in the day March 10th) improperly flagged and quarantined products as widespread as Excel, Flash, Adobe Update and the Google Toolbar installer as W95/CTX a very old virus from 2004. They have already shipped a new version (4716) but if the old version had a chance to scan your system you may find a large number of programs simply stopped working as they or components they rely on were quarantined. What to do McAfee - If your machine is operating normally, be sure to download the latest version of the signature file using McAfee's normal update procedure. If you are having problems with files being deleted or quarantined by the faulty signature file McAfee has set up tools (link below) to assist you in recovering your quarantined files.
