What Is It? It's our excuse to annoy you with patch notices <g>. Seriously, Adobe, which now owns the Macromedia tools, has released Macromedia Flash Player version 8.0.24.0 to cover an update that could allow a remote attacker to take control of your computer. Please be aware that this vulnerability affects Flash authoring tools, too. What Should You Do? Visit the Flash Player Download Page, at http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash, and follow the instructions given there to download and install version 8.0.24.0 of the Flash player. You can skip the Yahoo Toolbar offer; to do so, remove the check mark from the box next to the Yahoo logo. If you are the adventurous type, you can also update the player from the Internet Explorer Add-in Manager. If you use any of the Macromedia Flash offering tools, now sold by Adobe, please review the same documents for information about updates to your tools. References This concludes this VirusWarning bulletin.
