Welcome to the Viruswarning forums.  All your original content has been ported to the new forums as  well as new content and additional opportunities to interact with the authors of Viruswarn.com.  You can always access old content at www.leedrake.com/forum .  You may find some formatting was lost in the conversion and the older versions of the posts to be more readable....

But at least it's all here.

Enjoy!

What Is It? First, we owe you an apology for our tardiness in publishing this notice. Fortunately, if you are following our recommendations for best practices, one or both of the issues covered in this announcement were addressed automatically by your computer.</FONT></SPAN></P>
  • Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer, and Outlook Express - Tuesday, 11 April 2006 was Patch Tuesday, the day on which Microsoft releases its scheduled security updates. The updates in this month's package cover the following software.
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer - This update covers the issue discussed by Lee Drake in "Unpatched IE vulnerability", posted on 27 March 2006 at http://www.leedrake.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=986", along with several others not previously disclosed. The update is covered by Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-013, which is posted at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-013.mspx.
      • Windows XP Service Pack 2
      • Windows XP Service Pack 1, which, we trust, none of you is using.
      • Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, which is not really ready for prime time, as there are yet too few programs that really need or use 64 bit Windows.
      • Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, which is still widely deployed in corporate offices.
      • Windows Server 2003, all versions
      • Windows 9x - only because the issues covered are classified as http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-015.mspx is Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-015, Vulnerability in Windows Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution (908531).
      • http://www.mozilla.org/security/announce/ is the Mozilla security announcement summary page. If you use any Mozilla product, you may want to visit this page every month or two and scan for new announcements.
      This concludes this VirusWarning bulletin.
