Welcome to the Viruswarning forums. All your original content has been ported to the new forums as well as new content and additional opportunities to interact with the authors of Viruswarn.com. You can always access old content at www.leedrake.com/forum . You may find some formatting was lost in the conversion and the older versions of the posts to be more readable....
But at least it's all here.
Enjoy!

| What Is It?
Yesterday, Microsoft unleashed its more or less monthly batch of security bulletins, almost all of which are justifiably rated as critical.
The updates involve the following items.
Outlook Express 6, to fix flaws that could allow an attacker to read files or run programs on your computer. Theoretically, the program could do anything that you can do.
Internet Explorer 6, to fix a problem that could prevent you from logging onto a Web site that requires a user name and password.
Microsoft Jet Database Engine, to fix a problem that could allow remote code execution. Though this problem theoretically applies primarily to Web servers, it could occur on any machine that runs Jet. Jet is part of many Microsoft applications, including:
Recent versions of Internet Explorer.
Microsoft Office, especially Office Professional.
Visual Studio, a tool for programmers.
Third party software that uses the Jet database engine.
What Should I Do?
At your earliest convenience, visit the Windows Update Web site at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/, scan for updates, and accept all the critical updates.
Further Information
The information on the Critical Updates page does not state explicitly that the Jet and DCOM updates are included but it appears to be that they are.
As I was writing this bulletin, it appears that Microsoft may have withdrawn Product Security Bulletins MS04-011, MS04-012, MS04-013, and MS04-014, which address many other critical security issues. Please stay tuned for further information, perhaps later this week.
This concludes this VirusWarn notice.
