What it is
Quickbooks software, a popular author of accounting software for individuals and small businesses, announced today that some of their products are not compatible with Internet Explorer 7. Although they are working on a patch - upgrading could cause your product to stop working - depending on the version. Specifically Quickbooks version 2006 (and enterprise 6) requires a patch. Versions 2004 and 2005 are incompatible and no patch is available at the time of this publication.
What you should do
If you are using a version of Quickbooks older than 2005 (or Enterprise version 5) and you haven't upgraded yet - you should not upgrade to IE7. If you have already upgraded you can either downgrade to IE6, by uninstalling IE7 and reinstalling IE6 or you can upgrade Quickbooks to the current version (which is compatible). Note also that there are several subsidiary programs that are incompatible - especially if they are pre 2005 versions. These include important components such as Payroll, Merchant Services, and Point of Sale.
