Brett recently uncovered a report of a vulnerability in Adobe Acrobat which would allow someone to send you a corrupted document and have it either infect your machine, destroy data, or crash Adobe Acrobat Reader. Since Acrobat Reader is easily updated to this new version we recommend that everyone who reads PDF documents (both those sent via email and those used on a web site) update Adobe Acrobat Reader to the newest patched version (Version "C"). Here is a link to the patch (if you already have the 4.x version click here): http://www.adobe.com/misc/pdfsecurity.html or if you have an earlier version of the Adobe Reader you may download the newest, patched version here: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html You can check the version by opening either Adobe Acrobat reader from your start menu, or by double clicking a stored PDF file and choosing Help/About. You can only use the PATCH version if you have Version 4.05 of Adobe Acrobat Reader to start with (not 4.x as I indicated originally). If you choose help/about and have any version lower than 4.05 I'd suggest just downloading the latest version of AA Reader instead of the patch.
