| Unlike Windows XP's latest service pack, no one has had much BAD to say about the latest OFFICE XP service pack. My advice is to install Office XP SP2 as soon as you can.
Note that installing any office XP update, will require you to have the Office XP original installation disks (or a network share containing that image) available. It will not allow you to install the update without those original disks. Again, Office XP installs critical security related updates, as well as bug fixes and we'd strongly recommend installing it.
Just like for the Windows XP update there is bad news. This service pack is also HUGE and Microsoft's download servers don't seem to be up to the task of serving it out quickly. Expect LONG download times (I left my machines to download overnight - even though it's on a cable modem). Also expect the actual installation process to take a long time, and you must attend the installation as it requires the insertion of the CD ROM Drive.
If you're updating a number of machines, I'd recommend downloading the whole patch ONCE and applying it from a network share, rather than individually running office update on each machine.
