What it is Recently a vulnerability in the way Microsoft Internet Explorer handles an iFrame was released. Unpatched this vulnerability allows a remote system to install software on your machine unknowingly, potentially taking over your machine and/or installing spyware or trojan horse software on it silently. This vulnerability has already been exploited by both spyware and virus authors in the wild. Microsoft has rushed out an update that fixes this problem on non-Windows XP-SP2 computers. Computers who have Windows XP, service pack 2 are not affected by this vulnerability. Anyone else (users of Internet Explorer on any operating system other than XP) should visit Windowsupdate.microsoft.com to install this patch. If you're running Windows XP and have not applied SP2, we recommend you do so sooner rather than later. What should you do If you're running Windows XP SP2 - do nothing, you're already protected If you're running any other version of windows (XP, NT, 2000, etc) with Internet Explorer 6you will need the patch. The patch is available at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Additional Resources CNet news article: http://news.com.com/Microsoft+rushes+out+critical+IE+fix/2100-7349-5473282.html?part=dht&tag=ntop&tag=nl.e703 Windows Update: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Update info: http://www.microsoft.com/security/bulletins/200412_windows.mspx More info on the vulnerability: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889293 This concludes this viruswarning notice, Lee Drake Aztek Computer Solutions, Inc. 274 N.
