Some of you may not have noticed when Microsoft moved your Hotmail or Zone account to a Microsoft Passport account that inside Microsoft Passport there are SEPARATE privacy settings from the ones you may have selected in Hotmail or the Zone. These privacy settings control how much information from your Passport "wallet" you want sites that are "Microsoft Partners" to be able to see from you. The settings range anywhere from "absolutely nothing" to "tell them my email address, credit card number or whatever the heck else I've filled in to my profile". They come (by default) checked to reveal your email and mailing address to people when you visit their site (but not credit card info). Now supposedly this information is shared only with those members registered with Microsoft as "partners" with Passport. But since we don't know what the qualifications are to become a Passport Partner, and you may not even want THEM to gather info such as an email address they can spam, we recommend that you, login to Microsoft Passport at: www.passport.com, go to the "PROFILE" section of your passport account, scroll to the bottom and UNCHECK all the "Allow passport to share XX information with Microsoft Passport Partners" check boxes. If you don't have a Microsoft Passport - don't worry about it - this doesn't apply to you. If you don't KNOW if you have a Passport you probably do not :) Lee Drake, Moderator
